About the festival

The Anseong Matchum Namsadang Baudeogi Festival is built around namsadang nori, inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It carries on the artistry of Baudeogi, Joseon’s first female troupe leader, and the spirit of Anseong’s namsadang troupes, with a re-created old market from one of Joseon’s three great markets, traditional culture activities, Korean and international traditional performances and folk shows from abroad. See tightrope walking and the essence of namsadang nori up close, along with performances blending tradition and modernity.
