Gimje Horizon Festival

About the festival

The Gimje Horizon Festival, the only honorary national Culture and Tourism Festival themed on traditional farming culture, centers on Byeokgolje, Korea’s oldest and largest ancient reservoir. Against vast golden fields and the horizon, it hosts the nation’s first presidential national farmers’ music competition and many hands-on farming activities, such as cooking rice over a wood fire, catching grasshoppers, harvesting rice and threshing. Traditional events like the twin dragon play based on the Byeokgolje legend and a tug-of-war praying for a good harvest invite everyone to join in.
