About the festival

Now in its third edition, the Jipyeong Traditional Fermentation Festival celebrates the value of traditional fermentation culture and brings residents and visitors together through local agricultural specialties and food. People of all ages can make and taste traditional fermented foods while enjoying hands-on activities and cultural performances. Programs include making gochujang, preparing kimchi, making tofu and pounding rice cakes, offering ways to experience traditional flavors and knowledge alongside local fermented foods and agricultural products. Unusual contests, including a tteokbokki cooking championship and a makgeolli speed-drinking contest, accompany celebratory performances by invited singers and other cultural shows. A Makgeolli Zone offers tastings, while a Family Zone features trampolines, inflatable play equipment, a flea market and food trucks for families to enjoy together. Held from October 31 to November 1, 2026, in the plaza in front of Jipyeong-myeon Office and the surrounding market area, the festival welcomes visitors for an autumn outing combining traditional food, culture and entertainment.
