About the festival
The Gimpo Marine Corps Culture Festival in Daemyeong Port draws on the area's character as home to the Marine Corps 2nd Division to honor the Marine Corps' strong spirit and traditions. A variety of programs are held, including a display of Marine Corps equipment, military band and honor guard performances, a Steel Muscle contest, and making dog tags and Marine caps, giving citizens a chance to see, feel and communicate with Marine Corps culture. In addition, "Sunset Yajang," held on the rooftop plaza of the seafood direct-sales market, lets visitors enjoy Gimpo's food, including seasonal seafood, local food and self-service barbecue. Against the sunset at Daemyeong Port, a night-market-style food market and busking continue. It is a special time in which two themed festivals can be enjoyed in one place: Marine Corps culture by day, and the sunset and food by night.
