About the festival

The Mato Arts Festival is Anjeong-ri's signature cultural arts festival, named to mean 'the arts festival held on the last Saturday,' and is run in June and October as a themed festival reflecting the season and the local character, with a theme chosen for each edition. In October, under the theme 'Broadway in Anjeong-ri', it composes musical-centered performances and unique-concept experience and event programs, staging the Anjeong-ri Artists' Plaza as a single musical stage. The festival runs various performance programs, including a themed performance with professional musical actors and an ensemble, a brass quintet from the 8th U.S. Army Band, and performances by local artists. It also provides participatory cultural arts content that citizens, foreigners, and visitors can enjoy together, such as a stamp-tour style experience where visitors become Broadway actors, unique-concept experiences and events, and a red carpet photo zone. In particular, through the performance by the 8th U.S. Army Band reflecting the character of the Anjeong-ri area, it creates an opportunity for cultural exchange between the local community and the U.S. military, and offers a festival experience that spans generations and nationalities through diverse cultural and arts content.
