About the festival
The DMZ OPEN Festival is Gyeonggi-do’s signature cultural event for experiencing the peace, ecological and historical value of the Demilitarized Zone through art, scholarship and more. Moving beyond seeing the DMZ only as a place of division and military tension, it reinterprets its long-preserved ecosystem, historical meaning and possibilities for peace and coexistence in today’s cultural language. Extending the idea of “OPEN” to turn a closed DMZ into a space open to all, it presents programs in many genres over a long period, inviting visitors to walk, listen, look and think and to discover a “greater peace” together.
