About the festival
The Gunsan Jjamppong Festival is a food festival celebrating jjamppong, Gunsan’s signature dish, packed with fresh seafood and local produce. Until the early 1970s, ethnic Chinese residents made chomamyeon with pork, beef and chicken bone broth; the port city’s fresh seafood and spicy Korean chili powder turned it into the jjamppong we enjoy today. The grounds feature Chinese food and food booths, jjamppong-themed activities and stage performances.
