Theater Quad, Questions of Theater: “Why Peppers on the Rooftop Garden”

In an old, run-down multi-family house on the edge of Seoul, neighbors live with their own stories and shortcomings. One scorching summer day, all the peppers vanish from the tiny rooftop garden of elderly Gwangja. The culprit is none other than Hyeonja, a neighbor in the same building. Everyone has something to say about it, but to Hyeontae in unit 301 this “pepper theft” is no small matter: it is tied to a world that is falling apart. His words make his family and neighbors uncomfortable, except for Donggyo in unit 303, who for some unknown reason starts helping him. A squabble over a few peppers soon grows into a commotion that engulfs the whole building.
