About the festival
Traditional cultural events including the Namsan Bongsu Ceremony are Seoul Metropolitan Government-hosted programs that recreate a Joseon-era means of communication to introduce Korea's traditional culture to citizens and international visitors. The Namsan Beacon Mound was an important communication channel in the Joseon era, gathering signals from beacon mounds nationwide and relaying the situation to the capital. At the Namsan Beacon Mound, visitors can watch the Bongsu ceremony and hear a historical commentary. The daily noon bell-ringing at Bosingak is a participatory event for citizens and tourists. At the Palgakjeong Plaza of N Seoul Tower, visitors can watch samulnori performances and traditional martial arts demonstrations. Experience programs such as Day Gyeongjeomgwan and Day Bongsu-kkun are also offered.
