Boarding-house culture, part of Gongju's educational heritage, represents more than a form of housing: it preserves memories of young people's learning and friendships and the warmth of the local community. No. 1 Hasuk-dong reexamines the history and meaning of this culture from a contemporary perspective, offering activities that let visitors experience and connect with the past. A nostalgic go-go dance hall recreates the music and dancing enjoyed by young people of the time, while food and snacks recall the comforting meals served in boarding houses. A school-uniform experience invites visitors to rediscover the excitement and freshness of their student days. Through these activities, residents and visitors to Gongju can experience the local values and emotions of boarding-house culture with all five senses and share and enjoy this fading cultural heritage in a new way.
