About the festival

The 9th "Urban Sea Festival" will be held for two days, from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, October 25, around Noryangjin Fisheries Market and the Noryangjin soccer field. Organized with Dongjak-gu, the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives and Suhyup Noryangjin Fisheries Co., Ltd., the festival is themed "Noryangjin Becomes Seoul's Sea," with programs that let citizens open, enjoy, make and taste the sea for themselves. Visitors can enjoy a variety of seafood dishes and hands-on events. Master tuna chef No. 1 of Korea, Chef Yang Seung-ho, performs a live breakdown of a 60–80 kg fresh tuna followed by a tasting ("Tuna, Take the Sea"). In "Today I'm the Auction King," visitors learn hand signals from real Noryangjin auctioneers and join a seafood auction to buy fresh seafood. There are also food booths run by market stores, a direct-sales market offering regional fisheries cooperative specialties at low prices, and food trucks. Unusual sea experiences for the whole family in the city have been greatly expanded. On-site programs include a shrimp-catching game, a quick-bite fishing game, urban wave riding, the children's air bounce "Wave Playground," the children's fishing experience "Little Sea Fishing Spot," and the Noryangjin Sea Golden Bell quiz. Nine free craft workshops, such as mood lamp making and sea sunlight suncatchers, are also offered. A variety of stage performances to lift the mood, including the BLUE SEA Concert, Hidden Singer LIVE and Sea Trot LIVE, continue over the two days. On Day 1 (24th), the "Sea Energy LIVE" by Chung-Ang University cheer squad Hurasi and "Hidden Singer LIVE" are followed by the opening ceremony and the "BLUE SEA Concert" featuring Kim Yeon-ja, Kim Hyun-jung, Im Da-un and Ryu Won-jeong, which marks the start of the festival. On the 25th, the festival closes with "Once More at Nodeul," featuring winners of the Dongjak-gu residents' singing contest "Nodeul Song Festival," "Sea Trot LIVE" with trot performers Shin Seung-tae, Kim So-yu and Hong Dan-bi, music, and the closing ceremony (SEE YOU, SEA!). The booths and main stage open from 12:00 on both days (Oct 24 Sat – Oct 25 Sun), and participating stores in the fisheries market will sell seafood at special prices during the event, so visitors can enjoy seafood for less than usual.
