About the festival

Seocho-gu's outdoor library program, "Yangjae Library Embracing Yangjaecheon: A Picture Book Trip Along the Waterway," is an outdoor reading culture festival that lets visitors experience books, culture and the arts together at Yangjaecheon, a natural space in the city. It takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from Oct 10 to Nov 8, 2026, ten sessions in total, in the Osolsup forest in front of Yangjae Library and along Yangjaecheon. Each week introduces a variety of picture books under the themes of relationships, emotions, dreams and growth, healing and nature. The program includes an outdoor reading space where visitors can read freely in nature, picture book exhibitions, hands-on programs, performances and family programs. Reading and arts programs are arranged to make use of the features of each spot, such as forest paths, lawns, the Yangjaecheon walking trail and stairs, extending the indoor-library reading experience into nature. Anyone can take part, including families with children and citizens who use Yangjaecheon, and the programs that link books, nature and the arts let people enjoy reading in everyday life.
