About the festival
The 28th Jeongdong Cultural Festival, hosted by the Kyunghyang Shinmun, takes place on October 16 and 17 along Jeongdong-gil in Jung-gu, Seoul. Running past the Kyunghyang Shinmun building, the Seoul Museum of Art and Daehanmun Gate of Deoksugung Palace, Jeongdong-gil was a center of diplomacy, culture and education during the Korean Empire, where long history and new culture coexist. Under the new concept “Neo-Jeongdong: Pan”, this year reinterprets Jeongdong’s history and tradition for today with a street parade reinventing traditional performance, gugak-based contemporary artists, straw installations and food and drink programs that turn the whole street into a new stage.
