About the festival

The 30th Ulsan Whale Festival, hosted by Nam-gu, Ulsan and organized by the Whale Culture Foundation, is Ulsan’s signature cultural tourism festival, rooted in the transformation of Jangsaengpo from a whaling center into an eco city where whales and people coexist. Marking its 30th anniversary under the theme “The Whale’s Invitation, a Thirtieth Birthday Party!”, it runs for four days from October 15 to 18, 2026 in the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Special Zone, with a whale theater main stage, shrimp yard, whale activity yard, busking zone and flea market, plus a welcome gate at Taehwagang Station. Highlights include opening and closing ceremonies, a special fireworks show, a 300-member citizen choir, a whale parade, a kids’ festa, AR and AI experiences, a family song contest, a 30th anniversary archive exhibition, a food zone and nearby attractions such as the whale watching cruise and the Whale Ecology Experience Center.
