About the festival
The Chilgok Nakdonggang River Peace Festival commemorates the Battle of the Nakdong River, the last line of defense in the Korean War, and the spirit of defending the nation. It remembers the values of Korea defended by ordinary people who risked their lives in 1950 and thanks those who protected the country. The 13th festival in 2026 offers peace-themed performances, activities and food, and under the slogan “A Boy Becomes a Boy Soldier” it highlights the often overlooked child soldiers behind the story of student soldiers and honors their memory.
