*The festival information below is from last year's (2025) festival; the 2026 festival information is being updated.* In Pohang, the 'City of Fire and Light', the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, a signature culture and tourism festival, is held every year. The Pohang International Fireworks Festival is themed on the image of 'light', which symbolizes Pohang as a world-class steel city, and 'fire', which symbolizes the hot blast furnace, and began in 2004 with a fireworks show commemorating Pohang Citizens' Day. It later expanded into an international-scale festival, and famous fireworks teams from abroad take part every year. Its content has also moved away from a simple focus on 'fireworks' to become a harmonious festival that blends industrial and cultural elements in various ways, with produced performances and light parades.
