About the festival
Eight happy days with the people become a festival for citizens. The grandest festival in Joseon history was a journey shared by a wise king and his people. In 1795, King Jeongjo traveled to Hwaseong to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Lady Hyegyeong. His eight-day journey was not a mere royal trip but a historic event that created joyful memories with the people, and his love for them was recorded in Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe. In 2026, Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Suwon and Hwaseong join forces to recreate the splendor of the 1795 royal procession, turning the people’s happy memories into citizens’ happy memories.
