About the festival
Ginseng is Korea’s signature tonic food, known to restore energy and boost immunity. In October, when ginseng is at its most nutritious, the Punggi Ginseng Festival comes alive in Yeongju, one of Korea’s top ginseng regions. Centered on health, it offers exhibitions and activities for all ages, with special programs such as a rite at Gaesamteo, a reenactment of magistrate Ju Se-bung’s procession and the Great Ginseng Rite. Taste dishes made with nutritious Punggi ginseng, try fun activities like ginseng peeling and buy fresh ginseng, red ginseng and processed products from local farmers at good prices.
