About the festival
The Danyang Ondal Cultural Festival is held every October in Danyang, Chungcheongbuk-do, based on the beloved legend of Goguryeo hero General Ondal and Princess Pyeonggang. Highlights include a grand departure ceremony and victory parade for General Ondal, a tour of Ondal Fortress and a Goguryeo market street showing daily life of the time, plus Goguryeo costume experiences, period activities and traditional folk games for the whole family, bringing the spirit of Goguryeo to life at the Ondal Tourist Site.
