About the festival

Seorak Cultural Festival, which began as the first Seorak Festival in 1966, is Sokcho’s signature local festival, carrying the history and culture shaped around Seoraksan Mountain and the lives of Sokcho’s people. The 61st edition, themed “Seorak, Colored Together”, looks back on 60 years and invites citizens and visitors to create new stories. Highlights include the Seorak Sosa rite with commentary and storytelling, a Seoraksan climbing event on the normally closed Dalmabong Peak trail and a mountain concert, a citizens’ street parade on Seorak Rodeo Street, a sports day, local arts and fringe performances at the Sokcho Expo Lawn Plaza, local culture activities and a children’s playground, linked with a downtown shopping event and Sokcho Culture City Food Week.
