In the difficult winters of the past, heavy snowfall led local residents to stretch ropes between neighboring houses and follow them through snow tunnels. When the streams froze early in the cold river winds, they struck large rocks in the river with hammers to catch winter fish for a meal. Transforming the hardships of their ancestors' lives into a celebration, the Pyeongchang Trout Festival is held here each year from late December to late January under the theme of a winter story of snow, ice and trout. Through the clear ice, visitors can see fish swimming in Odaecheon Stream, experience the thrill of catching trout and enjoy a variety of winter activities at the festival.
