Daejeon Seo-gu Book Festival

About the festival

The Seo-gu Book Festival is a flagship reading festival of Seo-gu, Daejeon, that shares the joy of books and reading with local residents. Held every autumn, it offers varied reading-culture programs the whole family can enjoy and creates a place of communication connecting books and people, culture and the local community. It features a rich stage program including author meetings, performances and concerts, along with exhibitions where books and art meet, such as book curation and picture book original art displays. It also runs special events such as discarded-book recycling and an outdoor library, and reading experiences such as storytelling and reading-related crafts, and aims to be a festival the community builds together through ties with local universities, bookstores and arts groups. Participatory programs for the whole family, including a stamp tour, further expand opportunities to enjoy reading and cultural and artistic experiences. The Seo-gu Book Festival is a leading reading-culture festival that widens communication and empathy between generations through books and spreads local reading culture and the cultural value of libraries.
