About the festival

The Gimje Recycling Saeroboemi Festival was organized to mark Recycling Day, spread a culture of proper waste separation and raise awareness of the importance of recycling. Its main purpose is to raise awareness of recycling and reusing waste generated in daily life and to share the necessity and value of recycling. 'Saeroboemi' is a name meaning 'seeing discarded trash as a new resource'. It reflects the idea of seeing waste not simply as something thrown away but as a resource that can be recycled and reused, and of paying attention to new possibilities for discarded resources. The festival's main aim is to share the value of recycling and to spread a culture of proper waste separation and resource recycling in daily life. The 4th Gimje Recycling Saeroboemi Festival is held on the themes of recycling and environmental protection. It deals with environmental issues closely tied to daily life, such as proper waste separation, resource recycling and the reuse of resources, and aims to explain why recycling is needed and how to practice it. In particular, it conveys the meaning of the festival around the basic concepts of recycling: a shift in perception toward seeing waste as a resource and the continued use of resources. By raising awareness of the importance of recycling through the efficient use of resources, reduced waste generation and better attitudes toward recycling, the festival aims to increase interest in environmental protection activities that can be practiced in daily life. It also aims to spread a recycling culture that moves away from using resources once and discarding them, and instead keeps using their value through reuse and recycling.
