About the festival

The Pohang Marine Corps Culture Festival is Korea's representative military culture festival, shared with citizens and tourists in Pohang, the cradle of the Marine Corps and home of the 1st Marine Division, to celebrate the Corps' history and spirit. It is also the fruit of the coexistence built over many years between the Marine Corps and the community, reflecting on the strong spirit of the "Ghost-Catching Marines" and the meaning of patriotism and veterans' honor, and turning it into cultural content that anyone can enjoy. Held every year around Pohang, the festival presents distinctive programs such as military equipment displays that are not usually accessible, military band and honor guard performances, and a military parade. Diverse programs for all generations are offered, including Marine Corps experiences, participatory performances for comrades, families and citizens, and a food market. Through this, it becomes a place of harmony where active-duty and reserve Marines and their families, citizens and tourists come together. It is also a festival that greatly contributes to revitalizing the local economy and enhancing the city brand by using the Marine Corps, Pohang's distinctive resource, as a tourism resource.
