About the festival

The 25th Oeam Village Straw and Grass Culture Festival is a folk culture festival where visitors can experience and enjoy straw and grass crafts, stones and traditional life culture against the backdrop of the 600-year-old Oeam Village. It is held from Oct 16 to 18, 2026, in Oeam Village and the Jeojatgeori marketplace area, with a variety of programs including a nationwide straw and grass craft contest, straw and grass craft exhibitions and hands-on activities, thatch roof weaving, a straw weaving competition, scarecrow making, a straw and grass playground and folk game ground, making pet stones, and hanok and stone wall path tours. Visitors can encounter traditional culture through the National Farmers' Music Festival, traditional culture performances, reenactments of traditional weddings, funerals and the Bulcheonwi ancestral rites, and the "Onyang Byeolsi" civil service exam experience and "Samil Yuga" procession. Folk experiences such as a Geonjae Old House special exhibition, hanbok, hanji and straw craft activities, and rice cake pounding and gangjeong making are also available. A local food and flea market and a food market are also operated, along with an opening ceremony celebratory performance and a drone light show.
