About the festival

The Busan Jagalchi Festival is Busan's representative marine and fisheries culture festival, held every October at Jagalchi Market, Korea's leading seafood market. It begins with Yongsinje, a traditional rite praying for a bountiful catch, and this year a gilnori parade also features pungmul performances. The opening ceremony includes a maritime fireworks show lighting up Namhang Harbor, followed by a celebratory concert by popular singers, including Song Ga-in, the winner of Miss Trot. The festival within the festival, the Jagalchi dried seafood food zone, also offers a space for the MZ generation and families. A variety of participatory events are prepared, such as an eel relay race and "Catch the Golden Fish," and the festival's signature event, making the world's largest bibimbap, will be shared free of charge with the many citizens and visitors at the site.
